What do  smell more sweet and feminine than freshly picked berries? Strawberries particularly.  If you have never eaten bowls of blood red ripened strawberries, laying barefoot on wet grass under  blooming apricot tree, you probably never get to estimate crazy mind of  uzbek teenage girl. Here comes cherry blossom. It is repeated every spring. Every spring it passes the same way. Although I am now far away from carefree youth and nothing compares to my fragrant berries anymore, crazy mind finds a solution : Cant smell berries? Bake it! And oh, dont forget to spice them up. Sugar will do it. But the day when strawberries  meets meringue, you’ll taste instant crush right there.


I have been baking this strawberry pie for years already and as I like to say, money comes and goes, people come and go, but I carry the recipe wherever  I go :-)

Thank to Sonulya ( a Russian culinary blogger) I rediscovered my beloved scent coming straight from my oven 😀    Forgive my laziness as I am reposting English translation of the recipe from my muse   Lola Elise  , also I am going to include original recipe in Russian for my Russian speaking devochkas . 😉

Baking time: 1 hour
Oven temperature: 350F


  • 3 eggs
  • 200 gr. of softened butter
  • 3/4 cups of sugar+1/2 the container
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 Tbsp of vanilla
  • 1/2 Teasp of baking soda (mix it with little bit of vinegar or lemon
  • pinch of salt
  • 3-4 apples or 10-15 large strawberries



Separate egg yolks from whites. Grind yolks with 3/4 cups of sugar. Add softened butter,
baking soda, vanilla, a pinch of salt and flour. Mix all of the ingredients by spoon and work the dough with your hands. The dough should be soft to the touch but not sticky.
Divide it into 2 portions, one portion should be a little bigger than the another one.
Place the bigger one evenly on the bottom of the baking dish. Put the smaller portion of the dough into the freezer to harden.

If you are using apples for the filling, using a grater grate apples on top of the dough or if you are using strawberries, slice strawberries and lay them on top of the dough. I use both, so, I first put strawberries and then grate 2 apples on top.

Whisk egg whites with 1/2 cup of sugar until white peaks form. Using a spatula or a table spoon evenly spread the ready mixture on top of the fruits.

Take out the remaining dough from the freezer and using a grater top the fruits with it.

Bake for an hour at 350F and let it cool for at least another hour before you serve it.



3 яйца
200 г. сливочного масла, размягченного
¾ стакана сахара + ½ стакана
2 стакана муки
½ ч.л. соды, гашенной уксусом
соль3-4 яблока или 10-15 больших клубники.
Желтки отделить от белков. Растереть желтки с 3/4 стакана сахара. Добавить размягченное масло, погашенную соду, ½ ч.л. ванилина (или 1 ч. ложку ванильного сахара), щепотку соли и муку. Хорошо взбить. Разделить на 2 части, одну часть сделать немного больше другой.Большую часть положить на противень и разравнять. Меньшую часть положить в морозильник.

На крупной терке натереть яблоки на тесто (или выложить клубнику нарезанную пластинками). Затем, взбить белки с 1/2 стаканом сахарного песка, залить ими натертые яблоки. Поверх белков натереть тесто из морозильника.

Выпекать один час при температуре 350F (180C).

Полностью остудить, посыпать сахарной пудрой и кушать с удовольствием.
